    Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calls up NASA astronaut Garrett Reisman from the the audience. He urged Reisman to make aliyah and praised Reisman for his support to Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon and his family. Ramon perished in the Space Shuttle Columbia.

    During the closing GA plenary, Israeli MK Tzipi Livni, Opposition leader in the Knesset, called for a new dialogue between Israel and world Jewish communities in order to come together. “Our unity should be not just in what we fight against, but what we fight for.”

    GA co-chairs Judy and Steve Silverman described New Orleans as "the epicenter of Jewish life" for the week. Between the GA and the JFNA's International Lion of Judah conference down the street, there were 4,000 Jewish leaders and activists taking part.
